10 Days Best of Uganda Primate & Big5 Safari with Rafting

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

On Arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide who will transfer you to your hotel. Should time permit you may visit the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, you will transfer to Murchison Falls National Park located in north-western Uganda. Stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a walking safari to track the rhinos after which you shall proceed to Murchison Falls National Park
On arrival you will undertake a game drive as you drive to your Lodge. The park through which the river Nile flows provides one of Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles and remains Uganda’s largest National Park. In the afternoon you will have another game drive.

Day 3: Game drive and Boat ride

After breakfast you will have a game drive while in the afternoon you will take a boat ride on the River Nile to Murchison falls, from which the National Park derives its name. Here, you will enjoy the spectacular waterfall where the Nile squeezes through a 7-meter-wide gap and plunges 45m over a rift valley gorge and at the bottom bask huge Nile crocodiles. Chances of spotting large herds of buffaloes

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Today, early morning after breakfast we shall transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale National Park, driving through Kiryanga, Bulindi, Hoima and fort portal where we shall have lunch from. Later in the afternoon arrive at your booked place for check in, relaxation, dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking

Today early in the morning after breakfast you shall be driven from the lodge to Kanyanchu Visitors Information center ehere you will receive a briefing about the Do’s and the don’ts of Chimpanzee trekking. A ranger guide will be assigned to you, plus a porter to help you with your back pack and sometimes support you as you navigate the jungle in search of Humanity’s closest relatives. The trek will last anywhere between an hour and 3 before you see the chimpanzees after which you will have an hour time with these apes as you take pictures, observe them as they go about their daily lives, grooming, playing and foraging. Go back to the lodge, relax by the pool, dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next day’s journey.

Day 6: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The drive from Kibale to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park will take you through Queen Elizabeth National Park. Chances for meeting herds of buffaloes, Uganda kobs, elephant troops and lions are very high. Though its just a drive through it doesn’t mean that you will not have a chance to take pictures. In the afternoon you will arrive in Bwindi and ready yourself for the next days once in a lifetime experience, Gorilla trekking.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking

You will get up early to prepare for the gorilla trekking. Trekking the Mountain Gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 6 hours, but is well worth the effort. You will be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas. As an alternative to gorilla trekking, there are several walks that can take you. The Mubwindi Swamp Trail takes about 3 hours and goes through parts of the park where there are elephants. Another 6-hour hike leads up to the peak in Rwamunyoni to 2.607m.

Day 8: Day at Leisure or Second Optional Gorilla trekking

On this day, you may choose to either go for a second gorilla trek or stay at the lodge and relax as you go through pictures from the previous safari days. Later in the afternoon, you will visit the Batwa Village in the Buhoma community for a cultural experience. Return to the lodge, have a massage, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Fly from Bwindi to Kampala & Transfer to Jinja

After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer from the lodge to Kihihi airstrip for your flight back to Kampala. Upon arrival you will transfer to Jinja home of rafters. Arrive, check in and either relax or visit the source of the Nile which is close by to what will be your accommodation for the night.

Day 10: Half day white-water rafting and Transfer to Entebbe

On this day you will be transferred to Itanda falls where white-water rafting is conducted. You will spend half day here on this thrilling rafting adventure. Definitely your adrenaline shall be tested here. Later in the afternoon, you shall be transferred to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will transfer back to Entebbe for be able to connect with your flight back home. In the evening depending on your departure time, you may have an option of going on a city tour in Kampala or visiting the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe.
